On the 15th and 16th of October this year, we had the honour of the great sounding German Group Vocaldente Sing in the 1st A Cappella Festival at the Arts House organised by The A Cappella Society. I have there for snaps the first 2 days and was doing the sound for the last two nights for the local groups. Here are some photos I took. Reflections will come when I have more time

and
The A Cappella Championships.
btw, photos on the poster are taken by me last year
A little background information on this competition. Organised by The A Cappella Soceity annually, it is its sixth installment and is growing bigger by the year. This year, the competition has been held at both the esplanade and Republic Poly Cultural Center (its the best equipped and designed hall in any polytechnics. SP is FAR lagging behind it.)
A new category called the pop choir category was started this year and saw a mix of primary school kids, secondary school students and even adults compete in it.
For the college and open ensemble categories, the tickets were guess what? SOLD OUT!!!
Yes it was filled to the brim that night and I personally feel that the singing standards have been raised to a very high level. To share some photos of that night:
If ur wondering why all photos are from the same angle, the reason was that esplanade only allows photographers to shot static from one location

We didn’t place top 3 sadly but well we were already top 6.On a lighter note, Singapore placed 1st in the embedded design Category (Clap clap clap clap clap). Congrats to team Trail Blazers from Nayang Polytechnic. I wonder where are the press? Its not easy to place first in such a international contest
Team Mama Gaia from Temasek Polytechnic was placed top 12 and that was also a commendable result considering the amount of opponents and they were up againsts were largely university students.
I would also like to congratulate all the teams in the photography category due to the fact that their work for the finals were all Top notch (ok except for 1 team which i didn’t particularly liked the work), and I would say everybody has been a winner. I especially liked the work of the 2 croatian teams.
Pictures of the whole journey would be here @ http://www.flickr.com/photos/25035085@N07/sets/72157606106641727 I would update if anyone else like Soon Bing posts up photos.
Last but not the least, I would like to thank everyone who has supported us on this journey.
Cheers
Xiang Ju

These days, there are many people who love to Sing, but very rarely will you find a youth group holding their concert at the esplanade.
On the 3rd and 4th of June, i was covering such a concert by Tone, a youth A Cappella Group in Singapore. With the gracious help of The A Cappella Society, they successfully held 2 nights of concert which was almost full at the Esplanade Recital Studio
Here are some pictures of the event

Today has been a crazy day.
First, I got news that my fellow committee members of the SP Videography Club have all been awarded the directors roll for excellent result. The whole committee of 7 people man. Thats news.
Little did i know that there was a bigger surprise waiting for me, and that is Soon Bing and I getting to the finals of the Imagine Cup Photography Category in France, Paris! This is such a huge surprise for us. So many people participated. Just within Singapore Polytechnic, there were more than 4 teams participating(and some teams had members studying in media and design courses) while Soon Bing and I, the art terrorists actually got through the the finals where the final 6 teams fight out for the 1st position.
For those who would want to see our lousy entry, here it is :
