Its has been sooo long since updating the blog and one of the reasons why is that I have been very busy with my group mates @ Singapore Polytechnic developing our Final Year Project called PEN 21, a document management system for hospitals. We just showcased it @ spinnovex from thurs till yesterday.

I would have to thank Soon Bing, Kevin and Fazli for seeing this project through together with me. We may have our ups and downs in the process, but without each and everyone playing a role in this, it would not have been possible. Also, I would like to thank everyone at DMIT especially Mr Tan Hu Shien our project supervisor.

Even if our system does not get implemented, we seriously hope the guys at software houses like SAP and Microsoft (whom organises the imagine cup we took part in) will seriously rethink how enterprise systems should be. I was horrified at the system NUH paid SAP to implement. The best part is that we heard that the new EHR system the government will be implementing is going to be similar to what the SAP systems has for an interface. Our government is really on the cutting edge i would say…….

The response we got from the industry folks we met during spinnovex from companies such as Sun, A Star, Changi General Hospital, Hitachi, etc. are very very encouraging and positive and we are happy many many people see great potential in us changing the face of the enterprise information systems market.

PEN21 is a project created with an intuitive, easy to use interface, leveraging the latest Microsoft Windows® Tablet and Touch technology to keep medical professionals as comfortable with it as if they are using traditional paper records. The doctor is able to add multimedia rich documents, and be able to make annotations on them using his PEN21 tablet PC, which is then automatically synced with a central server at the earliest possible time. PEN21’s support for rich media complements the doctor’s note-taking, and allows better subsequent recall and understanding of past consultation sessions.

Have been busy for the past few months. Will start regular updating probably in end August.

Currently, I have been busy with my FYP and also producing a video under my club SPVC for NTUC Cleaners Day celebration.

Youth Voices Concert 2009

Many of you may know that I am a huge fan of the The A Cappella Society Youth Voices training programme. Its a programme where youths meet weekly to sing and jam A Cappella music together. It fosters great teamwork and life skills into the youth through the various activities they do such as singing in small groups, managing the Youth Voices itself through their committee, giving shows at various venues such as malls.

This May, they would be given the chance to perform at The Esplanade Recital Studio for their own concert and they are pretty excited about it. Everyone, go on down to give them your support!

Launch of Filmgarde Cinema at Iluma

Just came back from the preview of a cinema by one of Singapore’s newest cinema chain Film Garde. This cinema is the 2nd one for the chain and is located at Iluma, ibe if the newest mall in town which is opposite Bugis Junction, beside Bugis Village.

It is a great cinema with great sound, great projection, nice ticketing and food area and best of all Great Seats!

Yes! Great Seats, for tall people like me above 1.8m, I treasure the extra legspace given as compared to other cinemas. I think it has the most legspace out of all cinemas in Singapore.

Personally, I think this cinema would give Shaw cinemas a run for its money as their cinema at the opposite Bugis Junction is of NO FIGHT! This new cinema is one of the best in town, and can rival that of the nearby cathay offerings which are already very good. Plus with the promising mix of tenants in Iluma itself, it would be a great place for your free time to go shopping too!

Many would have noticed i have not posted for a long time. I will not be posting(not much if any) at the mean time due to a very packed schedule. I will begin posting hopefully in march when my schedule should clear up much more.

Vocaldente in Singapore

On the 15th and 16th of October this year, we had the honour of the great sounding German Group Vocaldente Sing in the 1st A Cappella Festival at the Arts House organised by The A Cappella Society. I have there for snaps the first 2 days and was doing the sound for the last two nights for the local groups. Here are some photos I took. Reflections will come when I have more time

Got my result. Not as good as i wanted though……

so many things happened like Imagine Cup, Grandpa passed away during exam period etc……

So its quite decent for this semester I have to say. Missed the directors roll minimum by 0.4 though.

JJ and SB and Fazli did better than me this time. JJ has the best result this round with dist and A onli(hint gpa 4.0).

A little background information on this competition. Organised by The A Cappella Soceity annually, it is its sixth installment and is growing bigger by the year. This year, the competition has been held at both the esplanade and Republic Poly Cultural Center (its the best equipped and designed hall in any polytechnics. SP is FAR lagging behind it.)

A new category called the pop choir category was started this year and saw a mix of primary school kids, secondary school students and even adults compete in it.

For the college and open ensemble categories, the tickets were guess what? SOLD OUT!!!

Yes it was filled to the brim that night and I personally feel that the singing standards have been raised to a very high level. To share some photos of that night:

If ur wondering why all photos are from the same angle, the reason was that esplanade only allows photographers to shot static from one location
